This is the website of dA JoRMaS - a collective of multimedia artists with
emphasis on electronic dance music. dA JoRMaS was
formed in 1994 in order to
help its members release music and other works through multimedia
productions in the Amiga
demo scene.
The members have also had their own projects and collaborations under different
pseudonyms like .jRM,
Mulletronic,
Tero and
Shr888m.
These pages contain information about dA JoRMaS' productions as a demo group and
links to the works of individual members of dA JoRMaS.

dA JoRMaS' Commodore 64 productions:
"Mörkroom", "Ring2Rule 80%" and "Penis Attack" |
The winner of the C64 Demo Competition at World Wide
ZOO party 2021, "Mörkroom" by Pekka Pou of dA JoRMaS, is available on the
Productions page.
Also an earlier compo entry from 2015, "Ring2Rule 80%", has been added to
the list. Our C64 productions are runnable in the browser thanks to
emulation provided by Versatile Commodore Emulator (VICE) embedded to the
site using Emularity loader. For an interactive gaming experience you can
check the "Penis Attack", a long-lost 1980s game that was rediscovered
from dA JoRMaS' archives.

"Bonus Stage #75" released |
"Bonus
Stage #75" was released. This proof of concept for arcade perfectness
on the Amiga was inspired by the various not so stellar Amiga ports from
back in the day. 50FPS should have been possible on the original
hardware but as long as it hasn't been implemented it doesn't exist so
there was only one way to be sure. In theory the Amiga hardware is a
reasonable fit for a racing game of the era with the dual playfield mode
giving good control over the race track and the objects on top. The
copper can handle the race track while the blitter is busy with the
objects and the CPU can orchestrate it all. Color count limitations
aside it does indeed work pretty well but unfortunately there is a
considerable drawback due to every single thing competing for memory bus
access. The other main hurdle is the amount of chip memory needed for
the graphics. Adding some real fast memory to the system helps quite a
bit. The Amiga 1200, on the other hand, would be perfect for an accurate
port with 16 colors per playfield as in the original and enough memory
and bandwidth to support it. Perhaps a project for some other crazy MF?

"Happy Carva #74" released |
An
another OCS showcase, "Happy Carva #74", was released. This one
features gouraud shaded light sourced translucent vectors and
environment mapped vectors in 12bit color. Some of these have probably
never been seen on an Amiga 500 before!

dA JoRMaS productions now runnable right in the browser |
In
preparation for the upcoming 25th anniversary of dA JoRMaS we've made
it easier for you to get your daily dosage of JoRMa! Head on over to the
Productions page
to run most of our productions right in the browser by clicking on the
play buttons to the left of each production. The emulation is provided
by the Scripted Amiga Emulator and seems to run best on Chrome and
Safari. A relatively fast system is required for smooth execution. No
Kickstart or disk images required - the productions are loaded directly
from the original LhA archives and started by Dickstart, our custom
JoRMa executor!
